The Comeback

Team or Player

LA Galaxy

from the bottom of the standings in ‘23 to winning MLS Cup in ‘24

Watch out MLS, they’re back. What more can you say about the LA Galaxy in 2024? Immense transfer business from Will Kuntz, Greg Vanney and the front office turned the world upside down. From Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil to John McCarthy, Miki Yamane and Carlos Garces, the moves they made to bolster their squad in 2024 were so impactful. The Brazilian winger was named MLS Newcomer of the Year, while Paintsil recorded 20 goal-contributions in his debut season in MLS. Garces, Yamane and McCarthy were crucial members of their backline that helped secure their first MLS Cup in a decade, and sixth overall, even without the injured Riqui Puig. Hell, Puig’s iconic conference-clinching assist with a torn ACL alone is worthy of celebration. We won’t see the Galaxy in the Club World Cup in 2025, (even though maybe we should) but we will see them in the CONCACAF Champions Cup -  and surely they will be favorites.
